Anyone out there decide whether or not to pick up a book based on its cover? I confess I'm guilty! A book's cover appeal makes a big impression on me as a reader and, now that I've crossed over to the author side of things, the outside of my book is even more important.
But I don't think it was always like that. I remember amazing series from the '90s that didn't even have an image, just the title and basic information. Maybe it's a generational thing?
That being said, what do you think of Twiceborn's cover? :)
Great point and thanks for the insight.
I agree! A cover design actually does impact my decision to pick up a book. From there I read the back and if I'm still interested I may skim through a couple pages.
I think that products in general are being made to appeal to the eye. From the packages of the food we purchase to the books on the shelves, everything must be pleasing to the eye.
I've read great and amazing books that had only the title and the author's name on it...that was in the 90's. Would I be able to do the same thing now? I am not sure..perhaps if a friend recommended it to me.
